Description

The Alicorn Arms Experimental Magic Based Rifle is a pony based weapon, not designed for human hands. It is a weapon featured in my uncompleted story, MLP: Tale of a Palace Wizard and created by Alicorn Arms. It was designed to replace conventional gunpowder based weapons. Instead of rounds, a single magical rod is inserted in the squared receiver located at the top above the trigger.

The "bolt" on the receiver represents how much ammunition is left in the rod. With every trigger pull the magical rod in the center is compressed, and literally squeezing magic out of it. That magic moves into the centerpiece, known as the "focuser." When the magic is converted to lethal levels, it is rapidly shot forward and out the barrel. Each ammunition rod can fire the weapon 35 times.

In case of having to deal with changeling giants, or even enemy light armor, the selector switch can be pushed all the way forward for a charged shot. This lifts the compression restricting plate within the receiver. Upon a held down trigger pull, the entire ammunition rod is compressed, squeezing all of the magic into the "focuser." This will make the weapon start to overheat, so it is recommended to not hold the trigger too long. When the trigger is released the contained magic will fire out of the barrel, capable of easily penetrating any changeling exoskeleton, and up to 30mm of cast armor.

When the ammunition is spent the "bolt" will be all the way forward and in the down position. To reload simply lift the bolt and pull it back like the standard bolt action rifle. press the release lever located just behind the receiver, and the receiver will lift to the upward position. When the receiver is in the upward position, the spent rod will automatically eject outwards and to the right so that a new one can be inserted. To ready the rifle just close the receiver and make sure the safety is turned off.

[Note I'm not a weapon designer in any way, this was just for fun. I try to think about how things operate and I try to get terms correct, but again I'm not an expert.]
This concept routed from Fallout 4 and 4's Laser Rifle.

The safety notch/catch on the charging lever port is on the wrong end of the port, I think it's supposed to be on the back.

Other than that, I love this design!
